Press Release: Suspension of GippsAero GA8 Aircraft Flights in Arnhem Land and Timor-Leste
On the 20th of July 2019, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) issued a notice to operators suspending all GippsAero GA8 flights for Australian registered aircraft for a 15 day period. This follows an accident involving a GA8 aircraft in Sweden on the 14th of July, 2019.
MAF operations in Arnhem Land continue, albeit in a very limited capacity, using its sole 10-seat Cessna Caravan. MAF is seeking to supplement this with other aircraft to meet customer needs.
MAF has two GA8 aircraft in Timor-Leste and is therefore unable to operate during this period of suspension. We regret any disruption or inconvenience caused to our service users.
MAF is a faith-based charity which operates 131 small aircraft to bring help and hope to people in some of the world’s most isolated communities. Every four and a half minutes a MAF aircraft takes off or lands somewhere in the world to assist missions, churches, teachers, healthcare workers, relief and development agencies and others to transform lives.
