Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) Australia is committed to safeguarding your privacy online.
MAF Australia has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for www.maf.org.au.
Data Collection
When you visit this website and you have not otherwise identified yourself, our web server automatically recognizes your internet connection address but not your email address. We collect the internet address and monitor general site use and traffic patterns to improve our website and the services we offer. MAF Australia uses web server logs to collect data for metric purposes. Examples of the types of data collected on the logs are IP addresses, referral pages, dates and times of access, and information requested. We may use collected data to customize the content and/or layout of our pages for each individual visitor.
The use of Cookies
Cookies are small data items stored on your computer by a web server when you visit a site. They are currently the only way to effectively identify a unique anonymous visitor and understand how they navigate our site. Most newer internet browsers will allow you to refuse cookies, receive warnings before they are stored, and remove them once they are stored. Cookies can offer enhanced functionality to users, but whether you allow a cookie to be placed on your computer or not is up to you!
MAF Australia may use cookies for tracking purposes or to make the site easier to use. However your acceptance of cookies is not required to use this site and anonymous visitors to MAF Australia websites remain anonymous at all times. We do not attempt to identify visitors who do not voluntarily submit personal information to us, and any such information is never associated with our cookies in any way.
Collection of Personal Information
MAF Australia does not collect personally identifiable information about individuals except when such individuals specifically provide such information on a voluntary basis. For example, such personally identifiable information may be gathered from the registration process for subscription or services and in connection with content submissions, community postings (e.g., forums), suggestions and transactional areas.
Use and Disclosure
Personally identifiable information on individual users will not be sold or otherwise transferred to unaffiliated third parties without the approval of the user at the time of collection. At such points of collection, the user will have the opportunity to indicate whether he or she would like to “opt out” of receiving promotional and/or marketing information about other products, services and offerings and/or any third parties.
Upon request, we will allow any user to “opt out” of further promotional contacts at any time.
We reserve the right to perform statistical analyses of user behaviour and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of the various areas of the site and to inform advertisers of such information as well as the number of users that have been exposed to or clicked on their advertising banners.
We also reserve the right to access and disclose any information we consider necessary or appropriate under the circumstances in order to cooperate with legitimate governmental requests, subpoenas, or court orders, and/or to protect MAF Australia, its businesses, systems and customers.
Data Quality
Upon request, we will use reasonable efforts to allow users to update/correct personal information previously submitted which the user states is erroneous to the extent such activities will not compromise privacy or security interests. Also, upon a user’s request, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to functionally delete the user and his or her personal information from its database; however, it may be impossible to delete a user’s entry without some residual information because of backups and records of deletions.
Data Security
Access to the database containing personal information is restricted to MAF Australia staff members with direct responsibility for customer service or management of the website. Authorised staff members are not allowed to pass on information about members to non-authorised staff without the express permission of the General Manager.
