Tobias had an interest in aviation from a young age.
During his studies in social work he read about MAF in a magazine and was intrigued by the use of airplanes as a means to impact people’s lives in Christ’s name. At the beginning of 2011 he inherited money to study for an Airframe & Powerplant mechanics licence in the USA as well as to start the training for his commercial pilot’s license in South Africa. He finished his pilot’s licence in 2015, worked as a flight instructor for a year, and joined MAF in South Sudan in 2018.
As a young girl, Moriah fell in love with East Africa while her family was serving for some years in a rural village in Northern Kenya.
After moving back to the USA and finishing a university degree, Moriah was invited to volunteer at Juba Christian Academy (JCA) by a MAF family living in Juba, South Sudan. She worked at JCA in 2015-2016 and then returned to JCA in 2019.
Moriah and Tobias met in Juba when Moriah moved there in 2019. They married in January 2021 and have made Juba home. In addition to their work with MAF and JCA, they especially enjoy meeting and getting to know the missionaries working in South Sudan who travel in and out of Juba.
Tobias and Moriah Meyer are members of MAF South Africa
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
